Obituary of Andrew Albert James

THORBURN – Andrew Albert James, 74, Thorburn, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at home, surrounded by his family. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Albert and Julia (Ermenc) James. Prior to retirement in 2005, Andrew had been employed as a pipefitter with the former Trenton Works for 33 years. In earlier years, he was employed for 11 years at the McBain Mine, Thorburn. Andrew enjoyed bowling, gardening, driving his lawn tractor, playing Lotto 6/49 and completing Sudoku puzzles. His favorite pastime was spending time with his four grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Marie G. (Fraser); son, Andrew Jr. (Candice), Fort St. John, B.C.; daughters, Julie James, New Glasgow; Missy (Darcy) Walsh, Thorburn; grandchildren, Cassidy and Dakota Walsh, Eli and Cohen James; sisters, Dorothy (Joey) Morrison, Minnie Sartoris, Annie (Billy) Swallow, Thorburn; Mary Harned, St. John, N.B.; Rose MacEachern (Joe), Stellarton; Bertha (Jim) Simpson, Calgary, Alta.; brothers, Johnny (Colleen), Larry (Millie), Stellarton; Herbie (Sherry), Thorburn; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Julie Sartoris and Helen Stewart; brother, Alex. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 in the chapel with Rev. Peter J. MacDonald presiding. Interment will be in Thorburn Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made in Andrew’s memory to the - Pictou County Parkinson's Super Walk, 206 Prince Street, New Glasgow, NS B2H 3L5.
