Obituary of Phillip Maldre
THORBURN – Phillip Maldre, 84, Thorburn, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Angus and Josephine Denise (Bureau) Maldre. Prior to retirement, Phillip was employed in the Punch and Shears Department of the former Trenton Works. He enjoyed traveling to Cape Breton, supporting his grandchildren as they played sports and spending time with his family, who were his life. Phillip will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, smile and love of life.
Surviving are children, Lynn (John) Dewtie, Thorburn; Darrell (Darlene) Maldre, Thorburn; Susan (James) Walsh, St. Paul’s; Lucy Francis, Pictou Landing; Dougall Maldre, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Shelley, Ryan, Eric, Melanie, Jeff, Emily, Selena, Roger, Christopher and Jenny; great-grandchildren, Lilly, Lucas, Remy, Rowan, Thatcher, Sierra, Eve and Simon; nieces, Josie and Hazel; nephew, Angus.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by wife, Evelyn (Scott); sister, Celina “Mary” MacDonald; granddaughter, Jamie-Lynn.
The family will receive visitors 10 – 10:50 a.m. Saturday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Darlene Jewers officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date.
