Obituary of Cyril Allister O'Connor
PIEDMONT – Allister Cyril O’Connor, 87, Piedmont, went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Friday, April 17, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with his daughter and granddaughter by his side.
Born Piedmont, he was a son of the late Jeremiah O’Connor and Annie Catherine (MacDonald) (O’Connor) Cameron. Cyril operated the Circle “C” Ranch which offered horse and trail rides, and camping facilities for many years. He had been employed with the former C. A. Robertson Lumber Ltd., Kenzieville and as a snowplow operator with the Department of Transportation. Cyril enjoyed farming, raising sheep and looking after his horses. He possessed an enduring faith in his Lord and worshiped with his church family at Freedom Bible Church, Sutherlands River. Cyril was the “glue” and “backbone” of his family and to many, related or not, he was “grampie”. He leaves a rich legacy of faith and love to his family.
Surviving are daughter, Chrissy (Robert “Bob”) Dean, Piedmont; daughters-in-law, Jessie O’Connor, Trenton; Caroline O’Connor, Priestville; former daughter-in-law, Marilyn O’Connor, Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.; son-in-law, Mike McDonald, Linacy; sisters, Rose Brightman, Westville; Lillian Shaw, Greenhill; Faye (Reg) Booth, New Glasgow; brother, Hugh (Barb) Cameron, Sylvester; sisters-in-law, Mae O’Connor, Stellarton; Jean O’Connor, Fraser’s Mountain; brother-in-law, Ralph Cyr, Westville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a chosen grandson.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Elva; daughters, Audrey McDonald and Catherine “Cathy” O’Connor; sons, Wesley and Allister; grandson, Corey; sisters, Louise MacKenzie, Kathleen Trefrey and Molly Cyr; brothers, Charles, Philip, Kenny, Ivan and Jerry.
A celebration of Cyril’s life will be held at a later date.
