Obituary of Rosanna Jean DeCoste
NEW GLASGOW / MERIGOMISH – Rosanna Jean “Rosie” DeCoste, 76, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of New Glasgow and Merigomish, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2008 in the presence of her family in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow.
Born in Merigomish, she was a daughter of the late John and Christena (MacIvor) Stewart. She was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Merigomish. Rosie was a homemaker all her adult life. She enjoyed crafts, knitting and crocheting gifts for family and friends. Her greatest love was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughters, Eleanor (Larry) Murray, Marie MacLellan, New Glasgow; Cathy Crowell (Darcy Hage), Saskatchewan; daughter-in-law, Norma DeCoste, Trenton; sons, Ivan (Ann) DeCoste, The Ponds; Allen (Janet) DeCoste, Merigomish; sister, Irene Stewart, New Glasgow; brothers, Ivor Stewart, Trenton; Grant (Margie) Stewart, Stellarton; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Michael DeCoste; sons, Joseph Francis in infancy; John Michael; brother, Samual; great-grandson, Curtis.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Merigomish.
