WESTVILLE – Joan Isabel Chennell, 81, Westville, passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 17, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Isabella “Ella” (Dunbar) Chennell. Prior to retirement, Joan was employed with Sears for over 35 years. She was an avid walker, enjoyed tole painting and was a collector of salt and pepper shakers. Joan took great pride keeping her home immaculate. She will be dearly missed by those she loved. Surviving are her brother, Robert (Carol) Chennell, Westville; brother-in-law, John “Jack” Watters, Westville; nieces, Debbie, Joanne, Bonnie, Nancy, Janie and Shelley; nephews, Shane, Shaun, Ted and Gordon; great-nieces, Tanya, Vanessa, Kristen, Chrysa, Meghan, Jillian, Mychaela and Rene; great-nephews, Jamie, Wally, Jason, Brian, Nathan, Mitchell, Nicholas, Devry, Jamie, Jayden, Tristen and Aden; many great, great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Anne Watters; brothers, John and Frank; sisters-in-law, Dorothy and June. The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Thursday Jan. 21st in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A private graveside service will be held in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date. No flowers please.
