Obituary of Lois Winnifred Bruce

NEW GLASGOW – Lois Winnifred Bruce, 77, New Glasgow, formerly of Stellarton, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John and Marion (Callaghan) MacKenzie. Lois was a member of Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton where she served with the ACW. She was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, New Glasgow. She and her husband, Jim, spent many enjoyable summers camping at Harbour Lights Campground. Lois was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, James Jullian “Jim” Bruce; daughters, Debbie (Christopher) Wesley, Antigonish; Susan Bruce, Pictou; sons, MWO Howard Bruce, North Bay, Ont.; Martin (Rhonda) Sabattis, Winnipeg, Man.; grandchildren, Omer (Britny), Melanie (Robert), Ryan, Jennifer (Michael), Devon, Kyle (Kimberly), Emily, Nicole and Kristianna; great-grandchildren, Madisyn, Keagan, Ryley, Tyler, Logan, Avery, Nathan and Wyatt; brother, Bill Gorman, Moncton; sister-in-law, Joy MacKenzie, Stellarton; many nieces and nephews.Besides her parents, she was predeceased by son, Michael; brother, John MacKenzie. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 in Christ Anglican Church with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury presiding. Interment will be in Christ Anglican Church cemetery. Family flowers only.
