Obituary of John Alexander MacLellan
WESTVILLE/ARDNESS - John Alexander “Alex” MacLellan, 73, Westville, formerly of Ardness passed away peacefully Thursday, June 6, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late John and Mary Catherine (MacDonald) MacLellan. He was a member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Westville. Alex was employed as a school bus driver with Chignecto Regional School Board from 1990 until retirement in 2005. He also was a part-time taxi operator for 35 years. In earlier years he was lobster fisherman.
Surviving are his companion of 38 years, Dorothy Taylor; step daughter, Theresa (Jim) Palmer, Union Centre; step granddaughters, Donna (Charles) MacDonald, Westville; Leta (A.J.) Jordan, Westville; step-great-grandchildren, Krystal (Blair), Lacey (Dennis), Nicole (Ian), Allister (Jennifer) and Taylor(Harley).
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his step daughter, Sally Rumley
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, June 7 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8 in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore with Father Evo DiPierro presiding. Interment will be in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bailey’s Brook.
