Obituary of Douglas Edward MacDonald
GARDEN OF EDEN – Douglas Edward “Doug” MacDonald, 68, Garden of Eden, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Alexander Lloyd and Margaret Elizabeth (Dickie) MacDonald. In earlier years, Doug operated MacDonald Brothers Landscaping and then worked with his late brother Ian’s company, MacDonald’s Industrial Services. He was currently assisting his son, Dwaine, with the operation of Trinity Energy Group. Doug was a member of Blair Presbyterian Church, Garden of Eden. He enjoyed being outdoors, tinkering in the garage and travelling the community on his tractor. Doug enjoyed watching CNN, keeping up on current events, reading and spending time with his cat, Molly. He instilled in his children and grandchildren, a sense of pride and knowledge in their family and community history. Doug was resilient and set the standard for his own life. He was a man of integrity and few words, was loyal and possessed a wry sense of humour. Doug loved his family dearly.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Katherine Lynn “Kaye” (Finch); children, Denisa (Wayne) Fletcher, Howie Center; Dawn (Josh) Wagman, Calgary, Alta.; Dwaine (Karen), Woodburn; grandchildren, Shelby, Bailey, Riley, Cameron and Eric; sisters, Catherine (Robert) Schella, Sydney River; Mary Helen (Gary) Connors, MacLellan’s Brook; brothers, Dickie (Sandra) MacDonald, Yarmouth; Gordie (Anne) MacDonald, Blue Mountain; Boyd (Jackie) MacDonald, Garden of Eden; sister-in-law, Margaret Rhyno, Eden Lake; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Ian; father and mother-in-law, Eric and Della Finch; niece, Amber; grandnephews, James and Jordan; sisters-in-law, Sandra Hingley and Betty Jordan; brother-in-law, Charlie Jordan.
A private service will be held and livestreamed at 11 a.m., July 16, 2021, at www.pkmacdonald.ca.
