Obituary of Clarence Vincent Stewart

PINE TREE – Clarence Vincent Stewart, 69, Pine Tree, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at home. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Sherman Oscar and Mary Cecilia (Morris) Stewart. Prior to retirement in 2011, Clarence was employed with Cliff’s Taxi for many years, having previously been employed with the former Hawker Siddeley, Trenton and Imperial Oil, New Glasgow. He was a member of Sutherland’s River Presbyterian Church, Sutherland’s River. Clarence was involved with Scouting, where he had served as a leader for many years. He enjoyed watching sports, especially hockey and football. Clarence was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Edna Mary (Murray); son, Greg, Pine Tree; sisters, Hazel (Joe) Pettipas, Hamilton, Ont.; Donelda Bezanson, Stellarton; Pearl Hayden (Mel Oliver), New Glasgow; brothers, Morris (Donelda), Stellarton; Doug (Eileen), New Glasgow; Steven (Ann), Trenton; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by son, Robbie; brother, Henry; brother-in-law, Don. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Interment will be in Church Brook Cemetery, Little Harbour at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Clarence’s memory to Pictou County Victorian Order of Nurses.
