Obituary of William Aubrey Mason
NEW GLASGOW – William “Aubrey” Mason, 92, New Glasgow, formerly of Merigomish, passed away, Sunday, June 18, 2017, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late George and Clara (MacKeigan) Mason. He was a fisherman for over 50 years, during this time he held licenses for lobsters, tuna, scallops, and salmon. Aubrey was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Merigomish where he was an elder and served on the Board of Managers. In his earlier years he was a cub and scout leader, enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling, and golf. After retirement he enjoyed attending card parties and doing crossword puzzles. He was a loving, dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, Nellie (Fogarty); son, David (Joanne), Bedford; daughters, Donna (Terry) Hayes, Dartmouth; Marjorie (Donnie) Kirwan, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Tara (Scott) Costen, Krista Hayes, Erin Mason, Hilary Mason, and Liam Kirwan, two sisters-in- law, a niece and numerous nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his granddaughter Amber Kirwan; brothers, John and Edgar; sisters, Helen and Marjorie; daughter-in-law, Sharon Mason.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, in St. Paul's Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bonnie Wynn and Rev. Dr. J. Kenneth MacLeod officiating. Interment will be in Murray’s Point Cemetery
