Obituary of James Edward Tree
PINE TREE – James Edward “Jim” Tree, 82, Maritime Odd Fellows Home, Pictou, formerly of Pine Tree, passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 in the home.
Born in Otter Brook, he was a son of the late James Edward and Eliza Jane (Nichols) Tree. Prior to retirement, he was employed with Michelin Tire, Granton, having previously been employed with the former Trenton Works and in coal mining. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, stock car racing and playing cards. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Surviving are his wife, Lola (Chambers); daughters, Rhoda Tree, Yarmouth; Wilda Tree, Thorburn; Dawn Maas, Hugoton, Kansas; Eliza (George) Abbass, Pine Tree; sons, Roy (Annette), Dana (Ashley), New Glasgow; Jason (Amanda), Sylvester; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Wilma, in infancy; first wife, Elizabeth (MacKeigan); sisters, Harriette, Grace, Vivian “Vi”, Julia, Gwen and May; brothers, Henry and Clarence in infancy, Carroll, John, William, Hance and Hedley.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday Feb 25th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday Feb 26th in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
