Obituary of Karen Lorraine Patton
NEW GLASGOW – Karen Lorraine (Bezanson) Patton, 72, New Glasgow, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in Belleville, Ont., she was a daughter of the late Elgin and Ruth (Laundrie) McGowan. Karen was proud to be the first female custodian at the former West Pictou Consolidated School from where she retired after 25 years of service. Karen was well known at local craft fairs, yard sales and flea markets for her beautiful Christmas wreaths and tole painting art. She enjoyed going to bingo with her best friend Linda, long drives and Tim Horton’s coffee. Karen possessed a boundless energy and beautiful frankness.
She shared a love of dancing with her husband, Ken, attending the Friday and Sunday dances at Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 28, Stellarton. Three weeks ago, Karen faced her cancer diagnosis with strength, dignity and resolve. Taking the time to individually say “good-bye” to those she loved. In death, as in life, Karen possessed an unwavering determination and “never give up” attitude. Her memories will live on with her loved ones.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth A. Patton; daugthers, Cynthia “Cindy” (Robin) Skanes, Petawawa, Ont.; Tammy Bezanson, Trenton; grandchildren, Alanta, Savanna, Sheridan; Maddison, Jalena and Conway; sisters, Peggy (Robert) White, Belleville, Ont.; Janice (Wilfred) LeBelle, Campbellford, Ont.; Mary Ashton, Trenton, Ont.; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Grant.
In keeping with Karen’s wishes, her family will celebrate her life privately.
