Obituary of Thelma Agnes Wood
NEW GLASGOW – Thelma Agnes Wood, 71, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 17, 2014 at home, surrounded by her family.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John James and Mary Agnes (Welsh) MacPhee. Prior to retirement in 2008, she had been a PCW at Glen Haven Manor for 22 years. Sunday was “race day”, Thelma was an avid NASCAR fan, always cheering for Jimmie Johnson. She enjoyed camping, especially creating “bonfires with her nanny stick”. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, who was anxiously awaiting the birth of her fifth great-grandchild.
Surviving are her husband, James William “Jimmie” Crossan; daughters, Mary (Robbie) Campbell, Westville; Shelley Wood (Sean), Pictou; Marie Wood, New Glasgow; Stephanie Feltmate, Stellarton; Jakki Wood, New Glasgow; son, Danny Wood, Westville; grandchildren, Tony, Andy, Darryl, Stephen, Natasha, Brandon, Jennifer, Jordan, Logan, Haley and Taya; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Keirah, Bianca and Easton; sisters, Theresa Corbett, Pictou; Marie Boutilier, Blue Mountain; Marsha (Les) Morrison, Trenton; Jenny “Baby Bunny” LeBlanc, New Glasgow; brothers, Jack (Linda) MacPhee, Hopewell; Roddie (Connie) MacPhee, Pictou; sisters-in-law, Junie, Nellie, Vi and Brenda; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Mack Wood; sisters, Shirley Stewart and Hazel Barrie.
Thelma wished to help future generations and has donated her body to Medical Science. In celebration of her life, the family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 21st in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
