Obituary of Darlene Bernice MacMillan

NEW GLASGOW – Darlene Bernice MacMillan, 54, New Glasgow, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2008 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Bernard Anthony “Bun” and Hazel Jean (Cress) MacDonald of Pictou Landing. She was a member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Trenton. In earlier years, she was employed with the former Metropolitan store and The Evening News. Darlene enjoyed art, crafts and gardening; and was especially fond of her pet dogs, Rascal, Taffy and Maggie. Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Boyd; sisters, Marilyn (Harry) Mitchell, Whitewood, Sask.; Elizabeth (Freeman) Stroud, Pictou Landing; Heather (Don) Dobson, New Glasgow; brother, Paul (Luanna) MacDonald, Stewiacke; father-in-law, Howard MacMillan, New Glasgow; sister-in-law, Janet (Bill) Jardine, Lwr. Sackville; brothers-in-law, Bayne (Heather) MacMillan, Sackville, N.B.; Ian MacMillan, Stellarton; aunts, Mary Cress, Greenwood; Alice McMillan, New Glasgow; Ruth (Don) MacInnis, Halifax; uncle, John Marshall, New Glasgow; nieces and nephews, Dr. Krista and Dr. Kathleen Mitchell; Erin Stroud; Sarah and Matthew Dobson; Megan, Ashley and Ryan MacDonald; Carolyn and Eleanor Jardine; a grand-niece; several grand-nephews; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Harriet (Stalker) MacMillan. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 p.m. Saturday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A private memorial service will be held. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date. No flowers by request. Donations may be made in her memory to the Aberdeen Hospital.
