Obituary of Emma Mae Westaway
LITTLE HARBOUR ROAD – Emma Mae Westaway, 80, Maritime Odd Fellows Home, Pictou formerly of Little Harbour Road, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in the home, surrounded by family.
Born at Murray River, P.E.I., she was a daughter of the late Otis and Amelia Acorn. Emma was employed as a seamstress with the former Cameron and Fraser Limited for over 30 years. Prior to retirement, she was employed with Walmart, New Glasgow and as a baker with High Crest Place, New Glasgow. Emma was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow where she had been a Sunday school teacher and quietly served in various capacities. She enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting and doing crafts. Over the years, Emma enjoyed bowling, card parties, dancing, playing bingo and traveling with her family to watch her grandchildren play hockey. Spending time with her family was foremost, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many enjoyable summers were spent camping with family and spending quality time on vacation. Emma lived life to the fullest, she was a very sociable lady who enjoyed sharing life with others.
Surviving are daughters, Debbie (Tony) Isaacs, Prospect; Heather Westaway, New Glasgow; son, Wayne (Charlotte) Westaway, Mount William Road; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jonathan), Richard (Amanda), Nicholas (Megan), Kirsten and Cory; great-grandchildren, Harley and Isabella; sisters, Joyce and Myrtle; sister-in-law, Faye; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William “Bill” Westaway; sister, Lucy; brother, Robert.
The family will receive visitors 10 – 10:50 a.m. Saturday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date.
