Obituary of Austin Jerome Keough

NEW GLASGOW - Austin Jerome Keough, 82, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 11, 2010 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Charles Edward and Ada Ellen (Sheehan) Keough. He was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. Jerome was an iron worker, having worked in various places over the years, retiring from Glasgow Metals after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Elks of Canada, No. 226, New Glasgow and The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 29, Trenton. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Olive Marie (Higgins), Glen Haven Manor; daughters, Margie (Bill) Morkin, Cathy (Ross) Dahl, Patsy (Dennis) Severtson, all of Claresholm, Alta.; Sharon (Lyndon) Anderson, Lwr. Sackville; sons, Charlie (Lee), Allan, both of New Glasgow; John (Stephanie Jardine), Claresholm, Alta.; Wayne, Ladysmith, B.C.; son-in-law, Roy Lawrence, Whitehill; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by daughter, Theresa Ada Lawrence; granddaughter, Maria Fahey; sisters, Molly Brown, Ann Higgins, Patsy Grant and Theresa Hayman; brothers Jack, Joe, Mike and Charlie. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, March 14th in P. & K. Mac Donald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 15th in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, New Glasgow. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in his memory to Glen Haven Manor, 739 East River Road, New Glasgow, NS B2H 5E9.
