Obituary of Donald Douglas MacLean

STELLARTON – Donald Douglas “Donnie” MacLean, 68, Stellarton, formerly of Trenton, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 29, 2012 at home. Born in Pictou Landing, he was a son of the late John Daniel and Ermina (Humphries) MacLean. Donnie became a trucker in 1967, hauling between Toronto and Montreal. Retiring in 2009, he had been employed as a long haul trucker with DeMont’s Transport. Donnie enjoyed watching hockey, NASCAR, old movies and traveling to Cuba. In retirement, he wanted a challenge and became proficient with computers. Family was Donnie’s priority, he talked daily to his many family members. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Surviving are his wife, Carol (Quinn), Stellarton; daughters, Brenda (Dave) Walsh, Dartmouth; Barbara MacLean (Ivan Wyse), New Glasgow; Joanne (Vernon) MacKay, Kathy MacLean, Dartmouth; son, Donald Jr. (Kristina), Stellarton; grandchildren, Megan, Ivan, Courtney, Madeline, Josie, Jaxon and Sarah; great-grandson, Aiden; sisters, Shirley Spivak, Margaret Jean (Bob) Spisak, Calgary, Alta.; brother, David (Mary) MacLean, Trenton; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by son, John Douglas; brother, J.J. “Jackie”. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 2nd in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3rd in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson presiding.
