HAMILTON, ONT. – Michael Leroy Fanning, 55, Hamilton, Ont., formerly of Priestville, passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 19, 2019 in Hamilton General Hospital, Hamilton. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Andrew James Fanning and Eleanor (Mosher) Fanning. Michael attended the former East Pictou Rural High School and enjoyed the many friendships created throughout the years. He possessed an “adventurers’ spirit”, seeking new possibilities and embracing each challenge he faced. For Michael, “Life has changed, not ended!” Surviving are his step-mother, Nancy Fanning, New Glasgow; sons, Michael Wylie, Halifax; Jamal Glasgow, Halifax; Kanin Gosbee, New Glasgow; sisters, Jo-Ann Cornelius, Jasper, Alta.; Joyce “JC” (Mario) Larochelle, Calgary, Alta.; Bernadette Weeks, New Glasgow; Julie Fanning, MacLellans Mountain; Theresa Fanning, New Glasgow; Kristy (Guillio) Mills, New Glasgow; Terry Mosher, Halifax; brothers, Andrew “Jim” Fanning, Halifax; David (Channin) Fanning, MacLellans Brook; John Fanning, Sudbury, Ont.; Everett (Kathy) Baker, Little Harbour Road; Roy Baker, Alberta; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by daughter, Kelly Jo Johnson; brother, Donald; brothers-in-law, George Cornelius and David Weeks. In honour of Michael, his family will celebrate his life privately. Interment will be in MacLellan’s Mountain Cemetery at a later date.
