Obituary of Gordon Thomas Oakley

LINACY – Gordon Thomas Oakley, 72, Linacy, formerly of Trenton and Port Felix, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by those he loved. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Thomas and Estella May (Boutillier) Oakley. Gordon was a bricklayer and worked in construction for many years. He enjoyed doing autobody work and restoring cars. Gordon was a loyal Ford man and an avid fisherman. Surviving are his girlfriend, Dianne Gay, New Glasgow; daughters, Lisa Marie Oakley (James), Lower Sackville; Tamitha Estella Oakley, Toronto, Ont.; grandson, Zack Bond, Lower Sackville; former wife, Brenda Oakley, Port Felix; step-daughter, Colleen Greencorn, Dartmouth; sisters, Sylvia (Roland) Murray, Halifax; Barbara Bezanson, Dartmouth; Nancy Lindanger and Rosalie Maro, Halifax; brothers, Michael Oakley, Bible Hill; Tommy Oakley, Halifax; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by step-son, Paul Greencorn; sister, Julia Crawford; brothers, James, Joseph and Everett. The family will receive visitors 1-1:50 p.m. Sunday February 1 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Family flowers only.
