STELLARTON – Violet Elizabeth MacLellan (MacDonald), 97, of Valley View Villa, Stellarton, formerly of Sutherland’s River, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 17, 2018, in the Villa. Born in MacLennan’s Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Ethel (Fraser) MacDonald. Violet was a member of Sutherland’s River Presbyterian Church where she was a life member of the AMS. She was known as a wonderful teacher in many schools that she taught in, the last being Thorburn Consolidated School. Mom treasured her family, especially her six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She loved to cook and bake for them and spread her kitchen table for them as if they hadn’t eaten for days. She was always quick to make sure they had a drive to a practice or an appointment. As a teacher she was always eager to make sure the grandchildren knew their facts and figures. She will be greatly missed by them. Violet is survived; daughter, Brenda (Jackie) Fraser, Eden Lake; sons, Steve, Bible Hill; Kevin (Heather Halliday), Westville; grandchildren, Michael (Tannis), Edmonton, AB; Roy (Carol) Red Deer AB; Kim (John) Webster, Stellarton; Andrew (Jill) Trenton; Zane (Natasha), Thorburn; Keagan Noade MacLellan, Little Harbour; great grandchildren, Sean, Clara, Statira, Palmer, Harper, Carly, Willow, Violet, Flynn, Dawson, Ryan, Mark; great great grand daughter Elizabeth; sisters, Elva Roy, Kings Head; Mae Cameron and Isabel Ross, both of Valley View Villa. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Palmer; daughter, Marlene MacLellan; granddaughter, Shannon Lea (Fraser) McNeil. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 19th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 20th in Sutherland’s River Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Debbie Stewart officiating. Interment will be in MacLennan’s Mountain Cemetery at a later date.
