Obituary of James Jullian Bruce

NEW GLASGOW – James Jullian “Jim” Bruce, 89, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 in the Manor. Born in Abraham’s Cove, Nfld., he was a son of the late Archibald and Isabell (Young) Bruce. Jim served with the Black Watch for 14 years, the Royal Highland Regiment, New Brunswick and the Royal Canadian Regiment. He was a member of Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton and The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, New Glasgow. He and his late wife, Lois, spent many enjoyable summers camping at Harbour Lights Campground and trips to British Columbia. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and going to dinner at Swiss Chalet with Susan. He possessed a “fun spirit”, was selfless and loved his family dearly. Surviving are his beloved children, Martin (Rhonda) Sabattis, Winnipeg, Man.; Susan Bruce, Pictou; Debbie (Christopher) Wesley, Antigonish; cherished grandchildren, Omer (Britny), Melanie (Robert), Ryan, Jennifer (Michael), Kyle (Kimberly), Emily, Nicole and Kristianna; greatly loved great-grandchildren, Madisyn, Keagan, Ryley, Tyler, Logan, Avery, Nathan, Wyatt, Emmett, Faith, James, Johnathan, Eli and Kacey; sisters, Bertha (Clifton) Rowe, Sheaves Cove, Nfld.; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Lois; sons, Michael and WO Howard; grandson, Devon; sisters, Augustine Golff, Mary Lepage, Madonna Greene and Florence Benoit; brothers, Angus, Michael and Albin. A private service will be held in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow with Rev. Darlene Jewers officiating. Interment will be in Christ Anglican Church cemetery.
