LINACY- Aris Gerritt Hazeleger, 63, Linacy, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Born in Ede, Holland, he was a son of the late Aart and Clasina (Kwakernaak) Hazeleger. He immigrated to Canada in 1973 and had worked at Michelin Tire for the past 31 years. Aris was an avid soccer fan. Surviving are his companion of 15 years, Evelyn MacLaren; daughters, Clasina (Art) MacKinnon, Melanie (Terry) MacIssac, Cole Harbour; Janine Lahti, Trenton; son, Gerrit Hazeleger, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Colby, Connor, Haley and Courtney; Evelyn’s children, Debby (Greg) Grant, Newmarket, Ont.; Ed (Kim) MacLaren, Dave (Tammy) MacLaren, New Glasgow; and Evelyn’s seven grandchildren; sisters, Siney, Hennie, Holland; brothers, Gijs, Marius and Gert, Holland; a nieces and three nephews. He was predeceased by a son; two sisters and a brother. The family will receive visitors 2-5 p.m. Saturday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in his memory to the Aberdeen Hospital Oncology Department.
