Obituary of Marilyn Winnifred Rose Hanson

TRENTON – Marilyn Winnifred Rose Hanson, 66, Trenton, passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 10, 2021 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Eric Franklin and Muriel Movita (Spears) Polley. Marilyn served as coordinator for the Pictou County Visiting Homemakers, Non-nursing supervisor for the Pictou County Victorian Order of Nurses and retired as a CCA with High-Crest Place, New Glasgow. She called her five grandchildren, “nanny’s little angels”, never missing an opportunity to spend a moment with them in person or virtually, she treasured her time with them and her four-legged friend, Buddy. Marilyn was generous and compassionate, no one left her home “empty handed”. She was self-less, always putting others first. Marilyn courageously faced five open heart surgeries over 40 years, never complaining, always looking to the future. She will be remembered for the warmth and love she freely gave. Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Lloyd; daughter, Amy (Derek) Eisan, New Glasgow; step-son, Joey (Sherry) Polley, Aidrie, Atla.; grandchildren, Breanna, Natalie, Harper and Eisan; Hunter and Madelyn Polley; sisters, Nancy (Wade) Russell, Abercrombie; Patti Polley (Kevin MacEachern), Pictou Landing; Cathi Fraser (Joe Walsh), New Glasgow; brothers, Roy (Jerry) Polley, Springville; Russell (Diana) Polley, Sylvester; John (Jennifer) Polley, Little Egypt; Eric (Joy) Polley, Little Harbour Road; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her eight-year-old sister, Jeannie. A private service will be held and livestreamed at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2021. Flowers are gratefully declined, however, if desired, donations may be made in Marilyn’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Epilepsy Association of the Maritimes or Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Unit Endowment.
