Obituary of Sharon Agnes Smith

TRENTON - Sharon Agnes (Roy) Smith, age 74, Trenton, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow surrounded by her family. Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Edith (Gosman) Roy. Sharon resided in Trenton all her life. Prior to retirement, she was employed at Walmart for 15 years, having previously been employed at Al Cameron’s store, Trenton and with Trenton Park. Sharon was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 29, Trenton, where she served as secretary for many years. She also volunteered with the War Amp Society and was a member of the Parkinson Society. Sharon was very proud of her sons. She was happiest when with her five grandchildren, doing things they enjoyed, especially playing hockey. Sharon was an avid reader and card player. She loved all her pets and was protective of all animals. Sharon leaves a rich legacy of love. Surviving are her sons, James, Truro; John (Rebecca), Fraser’s Mountain; Gordon (Kim), Truro; granddaughter, Addison, “Nannie’s special Angel”; grandsons, Bradly, Colby, James and Kaden; cousin, Leonard (Pat) Dunbar, MacLellan’s Brook; best friend, Mildred Ranahan, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Hillside Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made in Sharon’s memory to the Pictou County SPCA or Parkinson Canada.
