Obituary of Glenn William Peers

NEW GLASGOW – Glenn William Peers, 52, New Glasgow, passed away, Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at home, surrounded by his family. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Ivan Goodwin and Lois Elizabeth (Dickie) Peers. He was a member of Trinity United Church, New Glasgow. He had been employed at I. Matheson & Co. (1974) Ltd for 17 years until his health failed. Glenn enjoyed playing gentlemen’s hockey, hunting, fishing, golfing and playing cards. He greatly appreciated his family, many friends and Marinus Verhagen for the support given to him during his illness. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Wilma J. (Tree); daughters, Nicole (Chris) Goyetche, New Glasgow; Natalie Peers, Stellarton; sisters, Marilyn (Ned) MacLeod, Pictou; Verna Hawley, Trenton; brothers, Donnie (Margaret) Peers, Linacy; Robert (Phyllis) Peers, Pine Tree; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by mother and father-in-law, Elsie and Bill Tree; niece, Alanna Tree; nephew, Ivan Peers. The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday, February 13th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 14th with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in his memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
