Obituary of Charles Reginald MacKay
NEW GLASGOW – Charles Reginald MacKay, 56, New Glasgow, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2007 in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Foxbrook, he was a son of the late Eldred and Josephine (Davidson) MacKay and, step-son of the late Art MacKay. Prior to retirement in 2006, he had been employed with Michelin Tire for 30 years. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, New Glasgow, where he was an active dart player. Charles enjoyed sports and was a loyal Montreal Canadians fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Patricia (Robichaud); daughters, Melanie (Mike) Reid, Alesha MacKay, Cole Harbour; grandson, Matthew Reid; sisters, Catherine (Lennie) Dalio, Boston, Mass.; Jeannie (Gary) Harb, Elda (Hans) Glaus, Edmonton, Alta.; Laurie (Anthony) Pettipas, Trenton; brother, Carl (Cathy) MacKay, Stellarton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his son, Matthew; sister, Linda in childhood.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A family graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens with Rev. John Roy officiating.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
