Obituary of John Dean Mailman
THORBURN/PIEDMONT,S.C. – It is with heavy hearts we, the family, announce the sudden passing of John Dean Mailman, 54, formerly of Thorburn, on Tuesday June 11, 2019 at his home in Piedmont, S.C. with his wife, DeeDee by his side.
Born in Halifax, he was a son of Helen and the late William Mailman. John was a Curing Quality Technician with Michelin Tire for 30 years, where the past 10 years was spent in South Carolina. He thrived when playing and coaching hockey and softball, and also enjoyed playing golf. Above all, John was a loving son, husband, father, brother and uncle who will be dearly missed by all he loved.
Surviving daughters, Ashley and Brooke, Halifax; son, Cory (Veronica), Halifax; sisters, Darlene (George) Dewtie, Sutherland’s River; Patty (Bob) Henderson, New Glasgow; Judy Macdonald (Raymond), Pictou; sister-in-law, Sherry, Montague, PE; mother of his children, Shannon MacDonald, New Glasgow; wife, Deidra “DeeDee” (Pearson); stepchildren, McKenzie Couch, Trey Couch (Bri), Piedmont; niece, Emily; nephews, Michael, Jeff and Matthew; furry friend, “Little Jimmy.”
Besides his father, he was predeceased by brother, Donald.
The family will receive visitors 5 – 8 p.m., Friday, June 21st in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A public graveside service will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, June 22nd in Abercrombie Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
