Obituary of John Fraser Mac Beth
THORBURN – John Fraser “Jack” Mac Beth, 76, Thorburn, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 21, 2021, in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow surrounded by his children, after a two year courageously fought battle with cancer.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late John Neil and Jessie Hilda (Fraser) Mac Beth. Jack was a welder at the former Trenton Works for 41 years and a member of the United Steelworkers of America, Local 1231. He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jack’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and being at his camp in MacLellan’s Mountain. In later years, he enjoyed the company of his fury friend, Trubs.
Surviving are his children, John (Debbie), Westville; Rose (Derek), Thorburn; Leigh (Darren), MacLellan’s Mountain; grandchildren, Chad, Brett, Logan, Bobby, Jake, and Zack; great-grandchildren, Elsa, Alex, and Brent.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Viney (Frosst); son, Charles in infancy; birth parents, Cameron, and Tena (Whitty) Head; several siblings, nieces, and nephews; special friend, Betsy Taylor.
The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Sunday, October 24th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Monday, October 25th in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. A private interment will be held in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
