Obituary of John Lee Miller

LITTLE HARBOUR – John Lee Miller, 78, Little Harbour, passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 in the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in Thorburn, he was a son of the late Clifford Alexander and Margaret Grant (Haggart) Miller. John was a member of Little Harbour Presbyterian Church and a former member of Little Harbour Fire Department. Prior to retirement, he had been employed with Michelin Tire for 22 years. In earlier years, he worked alongside his wife, Carolyn in the Rumley family business, Dairy Queen Brazier, Sydney for 11 years. John will be long remembered for his strawberry rhubarb which he took great pride in growing; a hobby he enjoyed for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Louise (Rumley); daughter, Hallee (Kevin) Gratto, Little Harbour and their children, Jamie and Ryan; son, Michael (Ashlea), Little Harbour; sisters, Mary Fraser, Merigomish; Norma MacPherson, Halifax; Darlene (Brian) Stiles, New Glasgow; Wanda (Sandy) Young, Moncton, N.B.; Judy Croft, Dartmouth; brothers, David (Marcella) Miller, Merigomish; Donald (Susan) Miller, Lower Barney’s River; Kenneth (Glenda) Miller, Merigomish; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by sister, Helen; brothers, Henry, Everett and Robert. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday November 2 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday November 3 in Little Harbour Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lorne MacLeod officiating. Interment will be in Church Brook Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in John’s memory to Little Harbour Presbyterian Church.
