Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Dee
NEW GLASGOW – Mary Elizabeth Dee, 87, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 29, 2021, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in New Glasgow on May 28, 1934, along with her two brothers, Billy and Herbie, Mary was one-third of the Chisholm triplets, children of the late William Hugh and Mary Ellen (MacKenzie) Chisholm. She was a graduate of the Aberdeen Hospital School of Radiology, Class of 1955, and a member of the Aberdeen Alumni. Mary was employed with the Aberdeen Hospital X-Ray Department for many years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton and the Women Alike (Breast Cancer Survivors) Society, New Glasgow. Mary was very active throughout her life, bowling, skating, spending time at Melmerby Beach, traveling and greatly enjoyed shopping. She would travel to England twice each year and to Florida during the winter months. Mary was a thoughtful and kind lady who embodied the meaning of love. She was “Nanny Nee” to her grandchildren and “Aunt Mary” to her nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. For Mary, “Life has changed; not ended!”
Surviving are her daughters, Kathy (Stephen) MacDougall, New Glasgow; Mary Lou (Haymo) Thiel, Bournemouth, England; grandchildren, Jennifer (Donald) Humphrey, Stephen (Chrissie) MacDougall, Jeffery (Jennifer) MacDougall, Hanna (Calum) Tee and Heather (James) Plumley; great-grandchildren, Griffin and Hudson Humphrey, Alanna MacDougall, Kassidy Lewis, Colton MacDougall, Arthur and Elowen Tee, and Macey Plumley; brother, William (Lorraine) Chisholm, Hampton, N.B.; sisters-in-law, Frances Chisholm and Lois (James) Woodman, Whitby, Ont.; brother-in-law, Vernon (Marilyn) Dee, Antigonish; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her former husband, James Edward Dee; sisters, Sarah “Tootie” McQuinn; brothers, Daniel, Roddie and Herbert; father and mother-in-law, Edward and Bernice Dee.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held with interment to follow in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
