Obituary of Margaret Robson

PINE TREE – Margaret Robson, 93, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Pine Tree, passed away peacefully, Friday, October 15, 2021 in the Villa, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on November 4, 1927, in Mount Vernon, Scotland, she was a daughter of the late William Gillespie and Barbara (Jardine) Forsyth. At the age of nine months, she traveled to Canada on the R.M.S “Albertic” with her mother and seven siblings, arriving at Pier 2, Halifax on February 27, 1928. Margaret’s family settled in Thorburn, where her dad worked in the McBain Colliery. She taught school for one year before moving to Pine Tree after her marriage to George Robson in 1947. Prior to retirement, Margaret had been a home care worker and had been employed at the Valley View Villa, Riverton for several years. She was a member of the former St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Thorburn, where she had served as treasurer of the Ladies Guild for many years. Margaret was an excellent baker, cook, knitter and gardener. She was an avid reader, especially Danielle Steele novels. Margaret was a strong lady, who always showed compassion to the less fortunate. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. For Margaret, “Life has changed; not ended!” Surviving are daughters, Helen Gallant, Chance Harbour; Beverly (Clair) Vardon, New Glasgow; Joanne Robson, Pine Tree; sons, Charlie (Nancy), Halifax; Howard (Debbie), Merigomish; Paul, Gander, Nfld.; daughter-in-law, Helen Robson, Pine Tree; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by husband, George William Robson; sons, Gary and Norman; sisters, Marion Fraser, Annie Langille, Bella Jollimore and Jean Robson; brothers, Bill, Jimmy, George, Joe, Tommy and John “Jock”. The family will receive visitors 10 – 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Mr. John Reeves officiating. Interment will be in Thorburn Cemetery.
