LINACY – It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Jason Alex “Jay” Moser, 43, Linacy, on Thursday, May 7, 2020.
Jay was a loving husband of 15 years to Bridget (McDonald) and devoted dad to Brianna (Dylan), Cade and Cassie. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of Debra Fern Spalding, New Glasgow and Alan James (Shelly) Moser, Bible Hill, and step-father, Robert Spalding, Melbourne, Fla. Jay also leaves behind his older brother Kevin (Jessica) and twin brother, Joseph “Joe” (Kelly); Joe’s daughter, Jessica; aunts, Sheri Campbell (Calvin);Wilma (Randy) Russell; Sandra Acheson (Trevor); Sterling Moser (Cathy); uncles, George (Marilyn) Campbell; Doug (Trudy) Campbell; Bruce (Dolly) Campbell; Glenn (Colleen) Moser; Brian (Linda) Moser; Roland Moser (Donna); step-sister, Natasha (Pepper) Hughes; father and mother-in-law, Grant and Barb McDonald; sisters-in-law, Debbie Zinck and Donna (Rick) Lamey; brother-in-law, Mike McDonald (Kim); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; many friends.
Jay was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Sheldon “Punny” and Shirley Campbell; paternal grandparents, Alexander and Beulah Moser; “Nanny Lew”, Doris Lewis; brother-in-law, Robert Zinck.
Upon graduation from high school, he served with the United States Army, retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 2001. Returning home to Pictou County, Jay worked for Dexter Construction where his strong work ethic and outgoing personality saw him quickly rewarded with a superintendent position. He was currently employed as a superintendent with Costin Paving, Amherst, a division of Dexter Construction. For a short period of time he and Bridget operated Flex Water Sports Inc., canoe and kayak sales and rentals.
Jay was an avid sports fan and NFL football was his passion. He tirelessly cheered on his Tampa Bay Buccaneers, despite their ranking. Jay and Bridget enjoyed hosting their annual Super Bowl party, to which they welcomed many dear friends and family. Jay proudly and painstakingly prepared his famous chicken wings for all to enjoy. He enjoyed BBQing, hunting, fishing – anything that took him outdoors. Jay especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his fur buddy, Sniper. He was a huge fan of his children’s sport activities; Brianna’s basketball, Cassie’s soft ball and volleyball and Cade’s baseball and hockey. Jay became known as the “clock guy” at Cade’s hockey games and was a team fundraiser extraordinaire! Jay and Bridget shared a “lifetime” of beautiful memories, working together to raise and care for their children, travelling and spending any spare time they had together – “always having each other’s back”.
A private gathering and service will be held.
“It breaks my heart to lose you, we had so much more to do. Although you left me suddenly - know you didn’t go alone. Part of me went with you when God welcomed you home.” - Bridget
