Obituary of Margaret Edith Dobson

NEW GLASGOW – It is with saddened hearts, we announce the passing of Margaret Edith “Peggy” Dobson, of New Glasgow, who passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2011 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Abroath, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late James Smith and Ruth (Spink) Keillor. Peggy graduated from the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing in 1948 as a Registered Nurse and spent her career working in a field she truly loved and was devoted to. She retired in 1991 as the Director of Nursing from Edward Mortimer Place, known now as Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou where she was known best as Mrs. “D”. She will be sadly missed by children, Brenda Simone, New Germany; Kirk Dobson, Riverton; Lynne (Phillip) Browning, Telford; Pat (Parker) DeCoste, whom she resided with in New Glasgow; Scott (Rose) Dobson, Truro; grandchildren, Kris (Heather) Milsom, Melissa (Jamie) Berkvens, Matthew (Kristina) Hunter and Tyler Dobson; brothers, Ramsey, Fred and Jim Keillor; several nieces and nephews. Peggy was predeceased by her loving husband, Douglas Leroy Dobson on July 7, 2007, whom she loved to spend time with following the Weeks AAA Midgets Hockey team and traveling to Red Sox ball games in Boston as she was an avid fan of both. She was also predeceased by her sister Ruth Keillor, brothers-in-law, Bruce Dobson and Lt. Col. Jack Dobson; sister-in-law, Maude Dobson. There will be no visitation at Peggy’s request. There will be a private graveside service held at Abercrombie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peggy’s memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society. Arrangements are entrusted to the P & K MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
