Obituary of Lola Katherine Noseworthy

LITTLE HARBOUR – Lola Katherine Noseworthy, 95, passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 4, 2021, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with her family by her side. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Edna Jean (Colquhoun) Aikens. In earlier years, Lola had been employed as a secretary for several companies. Lola dearly loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, playing cards, going to the gym (well into her 80’s), traveling, volunteering, and entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed attending Trenton Church of the Nazarene. Lola was a former member of the Lions Club in Mount Pearl, Nfld. She was a member of the Aberdeen Hospital Auxiliary and the Little Harbour Community Centre Ladies Auxiliary. Lola possessed a wonderful sense of humour, a warm and charitable heart, and was completely selfless. Surviving are her daughters, Donna (Geoff) Pirnie, New Glasgow; Cheryl (Mike) Megeney, Bright’s Grove, Ont.; grandchildren, Erica Katherine Pirnie, Geoffrey Douglas Pirnie, Alexander Hugh Strong Pirnie, Mathew Eric James Megeney and Liam Michael Megeney; sisters, Diane Aikens and Eva Aikens, Dartmouth; Doris Caulier, Little Harbour; Helen Bonvie, New Glasgow; Isabel Snow, New Glasgow; sisters-in-law, Shirley Aikens, Little Harbour; Marion Noseworthy, St. John’s, Nfld.; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Eric Bertram Noseworthy; a daughter at birth; sisters, Molly Penney, Evelyn Guthro, Carolyn Stevenson; brothers, Lloyd and Warren Aikens; sisters-in-law, Elsie Aikens, Margaret Noseworthy, Pat Noseworthy, Louise Noseworthy; brothers-in-law, Al Caulier, Vernon Bonive, Sterling Snow, Lincoln Penney, Clem Guthro, Steve Stevenson, Walter Noseworthy, Charlie Noseworthy and Roy Noseworthy. A private service will be held in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Porch officiating. Interment will be in Church Brook Cemetery, Little Harbour.
