NEW GLASGOW- Muriel Harris Vohs of Pleasant Street New Glasgow, Passed away in her sleep at the Aberdeen Palliative care on Wednesday March 11th,2015. Mom was born in Dublin Ireland on August 12th,1939. She was always fiercely proud of her Irish Heritage,and god help you if you told her you thought she was English! Mom worked in London,England,were she met my father,and they married,then moved to Jersey and Guernsey in the Channel Islands to work and raise a son and daughter. The 70's brought a big move to Canada, Niagara Falls first,then east to Moncton,New Brunswick and in the 1990's Toronto. 2011 brought a move to New Glasgow,Nova Scotia. Mom always had a fast wit and quick sense of humour! She enjoyed talking to people,especially if she could get them to laugh! She didn't have many friends down here,but anyone that met her,found an intelligent,empathetic person who loved to laugh and have a good time! Especially if it involved drinking beer! As life is,it isn't always easy and mom did experience some hardship and personal tragedies,but always came through to be there for us! Her failing health and COPD limited her mobility and getting around,but she loved to go to the New Glasgow Farmers Market on most summer Saturday mornings for coffee and to socialize. Mom always loved dogs and cats and was very concerned with Elephants and their survival. She also passed on her love of old movies and music,especially Jazz and Rock! She actually wanted to go see ACDC at magnetic hill in September,her favorite rock band! Thats the kind of person she was though,feisty,funny and loving,and she knew alot of people in all the places she lived! Mom is predeceased by most of her family,except for a sister Nola in Guernsey Channel Islands. Her passing came very quickly and as a shock to many people. A big thankyou to Dr Farrel and all the Nurses and staff at the Aberdeen Palliative ward,who made her last days comfortable. Rest Peacefully my Darling Mother! We will never forget you!
