COALBURN/MCGRATH’S MOUNTAIN – Bernard Daniel Francis “Bernie” McGrath, 86, Coalburn and McGrath’s Mountain, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 19, 2018. Born on McGrath’s Mountain, he was a son of the late Margaret Theresa McGrath. In earlier years, he was employed in forestry, working in the forest and local sawmills. Prior to retirement, Bernie was employed as a welder with the former Trenton Works. He was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore and enjoyed going to dances. For Bernie, life has changed; not ended! Surviving are brothers, Kelly (Simone), LaVerne, Calif.; Vernon (Marlene), Broadway; James, McGrath’s Mountain; brother-in-law, Kent “Bubs”, Linacy; several nieces and nephews. Besides his mother, Theresa, he was predeceased by his “second mother”, Catherine (John Peter); sister, Betty; brothers, Dan and Vincent. In keeping with Bernie’s wishes, a public graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018 in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Egerton, with reception to follow in Sutherland's River Community Centre.
