Obituary of Mary Margaret Wright
NEW GLASGOW – Mary Margaret (Brennan) Wright, 75, New Glasgow, passed away, Thursday, July 7, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Ronald Joseph and Margaret Ann (Dunbar) Brennan. Mary enjoyed various employment opportunities, having been employed with the Heather Bowling Lanes, Aberdeen Hospital (House Keeping), the former Metropolitan Store, Eastern Meat Packers and Goodman’s. She volunteered for many years with the Shepherd’s Lunch Room and was a former volunteer with the Pictou County Women’s Center. Mary was very proud to have been a friend of Bill W for 25 years. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, enjoyed watching CSI and The Big Bang Theory, completing The Herald Lexicon puzzle and playing UCT Bingo. Mary was fond of watching the deer that gathered in her back yard and was always accompanied by her faithful dog, Bubbles. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Surviving are her children, Josholyn (Herb) Davis, New Glasgow; Andy (Marilyn) Wright, Leduc, Alta.; Faith (Billy) Swallow, Thorburn; Jane (Russell) Currie, New Glasgow; Lynn (Ross) Atwood, Lorne; “nan’s” grandchildren, Rob MacGregor, Robin (Steve) MacLeod, Vicki (Glen) McCarthy, Doug MacGregor, Cecilia Davis, Steven Davis, Michael Davis, Andrea (Dean Frey) Kadatz-Frey, Billy Swallow (Kim Cholmondeley), Samantha Swallow (Jim McLeod), Jillian Swallow and Gordon Currie; “grum’s or nan’s” great-grandchildren, Duncan, Ally, Madeline, Clara, Jaymie, Macy, Ava, Madison and Makaya; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Roy Wright; sister, Gloria Ann MacKinnon; brother, Blaise Brennan.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, July 10th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 11th in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
