Obituary of Willena Campbell Martin

NEW GLASGOW – Willena Campbell Martin, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in the manor. Born at Black Point, she was a daughter of the late Stewart Henry and Jessie Lauretta (Wilson) Reid. Prior to retirement, she was employed at the old Halifax Infirmary. She was a member of Trinity United Church, New Glasgow and a former member of Fort Massey United Church, Halifax and Bethel Presbyterian Church, Pictou Landing. She was a member of the Golden Years Club, Jubilee Temple No. 5, Pythian Sisters and Past Nobel Grand, Southern Cross Rebekah Lodge No. 3. Surviving are daughters, Phoebe (Graham) Fraser, New Glasgow; Judy (Allen) Morton, Little Harbour; sister, Jean Morrison, Kimberley, B.C.; grandchildren, Kim (Ted) English, Kevin Gerrior, Allan (Darlene) Fraser, Bev (Joe) Curry, Karen (Jay) Gogan, Gregory (Sheena) Morton, Christopher (Nancy) Morton, Adam (Stephanie) Morton and Aaron Morton; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William G. Martin; daughter, Edith Gerrior; son-in-law, Charles Gerrior; sisters, Margaret McGee and Anne Cormie; brothers, Morton, George and James. The family will receive visitors 10 – 10:45 a.m. Saturday, June 22 in Bethel Presbyterian Church from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Mr. Fergie MacKay officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Willena’s memory to Greenwood Cemetery or Bethel Presbyterian Church, Pictou Landing. Arrangements are entrusted to P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
