Obituary of Nellie Ellen Patton
LINACY - Nellie Ellen Patton, 89, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Churchville and Linacy, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 18, 2012 in the Manor surrounded by her family.
Born in Stellarton, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Christina Clark. Prior to retirement, she was employed in housekeeping at the Aberdeen Hospital. Nellie enjoyed bingo, card parties and cooking for her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her daughter, Joy Patton (Ron Quinn),Churchville; sons, Wayne (Lynda) Patton, Spruce Grove, Alta; Alan “Allie” Patton, Linacy; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Watson, Ontario; son-in-law, Ed Urquhart, Churchville; sister, Leona (Percy) Sheppard, Louisburg; brother, Lester (Marion) Didsbury, MacLellan’s Brook; grandchildren, Cindy, Edward, Vernon, Beth-Ann, Sharon, Douglas and Rhonda; great grand-daughters, Alyson, Ashley and Rachael; good friend, Donna Cyr; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Patton; daughter, Angeline, in infancy; sons, Douglas R. and Vernon F.; sisters, Thelma Clark, Frances Stewart, Bertha Smith, Margaret MacDonald; brothers, Aubrey, Chuck, Murray, William “Billy” and Chester.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.12 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22.12 in the chapel with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Interment will be in Lorne Street Cemetery, at a later date.
Donations may be made in Nellie’s memory to Pictou County SPCA.
