Obituary of Gordon James Francis Canning
PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Gordon James Francis Canning, 74, Prince George, B.C., formerly of Mount Thom, passed away, Thursday, December 10, 2015 in University Hospital of Northern British Columbia, Prince George, surrounded by his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Wilfred and Margaret MacRae. In 1968, Gordon moved to Prince George, where he was employed as a logger for over 50 years.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Carter) Canning; son, Roger (Roxanne) Canning, Prince George; daughters, Patty (Alan) Baird, Theresa (Rick) Coffey, Virginia (Hugh) Ashe, Corrine Canning, all of Prince George; grandchildren, Megan, Colton, Kayla, Brandyn, Amanda, Jazmin, Alexie, Colby and Gracie; sister, Diane Wilsack, New Glasgow; brothers, Sheldon (Sandra) MacCulloch, Mount Thom; David Dean, Westville; nephew, Greg Massaro, New Glasgow; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a great-grandson.
In honour of Gordon’s wishes a memorial celebration will be held in Prince George in the spring.
