Obituary of Ronalda Marie Tibbo
MERIGOMISH – Ronalda Marie Tibbo, 83, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Merigomish, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 8, 2021 in the Manor.
Born June 27, 1937 in Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Frederic and Marguerite (LeBlanc) Cormier. She grew up on the family farm surrounded by her siblings to whom she remained close despite the distance and years. In her late teens, she ventured to the neighboring province of Nova Scotia in search of work. Eventually this brought her to Lismore where she worked for many years in the lobster processing plant, met her husband and formed many friendships that lasted a lifetime. She also provided housekeeping for families in the community for years and cared for many children in addition to her own five daughters and granddaughter.
She was a member of the former St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church, Egerton. Mom’s pleasant nature, nurturing ways and easy laughter endeared her to many wherever she went, be it work, the community, grocery store or the care homes where she spent her last years. Allowing her to be blessed with many wonderful, longtime friends who helped her in countless ways, as she faced a life that was far from easy. Her favourite indulgences were a hot cup of tea and anything sweet, especially with her best friend of over 50 years, Sandra. Theirs was a rich friendship that few will ever experience.
Surviving are her husband, Douglas Tibbo, Glen Haven Manor; daughters, Eileen Tibbo-McCarron (Blaine), Trenton; Debbie Tibbo (Allister), Abercrombie/Toronto, Ont.; Lillian Tibbo-MacDonald (Mike), Linacy; Sheila Tibbo, Toronto; Diane Tibbo (Adam), Linacy; granddaughter, Crystal Tibbo, Salt Springs; sisters, Rina Arsenault, Viola Bastarache, Lorraine Cormier, Alberta Cormier, Edmée Cormier, Rose Poirier (Gérald) and Delma Maillet; brothers, Lionel (Thérèse) Cormier, Edouard (Rita) Cormier, Normand Cormier; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Adelard, Joseph Edouard and Léandre; sister, Ella Fontaine; son-in-law, Eric Zinck; several brothers and sisters-in-law.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore with Father Colin MacKinnon presiding. Interment will occur at a later date in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Port Felix, Guysborough County.
If desired, donations may be made in Ronalda’s memory to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore or Parkinson Society of Nova Scotia.
A special thank you to the front-line workers at the Glen Haven Manor who went above and beyond to make sure our mom, grandmother, sister and friend, felt loved, and cared for, in a place she called home. During these difficult times, we cannot express enough how much it meant to our family to know that someone was there when we could not be. Thank you! Eileen, Debbie, Lillian, Sheila, Diane and Crystal.
