Obituary of Margaret L. Peggy O'Brien
LITTLE HARBOUR – Margaret Lorraine “Peggy” O’Brien, 82, Little Harbour passed away suddenly on Friday, December 27, 2019 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Gregory Leo and Patricia Catherine (MacDonald) Hoare. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a Personal Care Worker with Valley View Villa for over 20 years. Previously, she had been employed with the former MT&T, Halifax and Boston Insurance, Toronto. During her working years, Peggy was a natural leader, helping many new staff members develop their skill. She was an avid reader, skater, swimmer and in earlier days an enthusiastic ball player. Peggy was a devote Jehovah Witness who read her Bible every day. Her favourite scripture was Psalm 37: 10-11 - “the meek will inherit the earth”. Peggy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who will be dearly missed and forever loved by those she loved, especially “her girls” – “the muffin queen”, “the rose” and “the general”.
Surviving are her daughters, Kathleen O’Brien (Art MacLean), New Glasgow; Tracey (Roger) Hartling, Cole Harbour; Michelle (Aaron) Johnson, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jacob, Brady, Shane and Jak; great-granddaughter, Olivia; sisters, Kathleen Hoare, Maple Ridge, B.C.; Rose (Hari) Krishan, Halifax; Patricia (Francis) Long, New Glasgow; Brenda (David) MacEachern, Greenhill; brother, Gregory (Kaaren) Hoare, Trenton; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Michael O’Brien; great-grandson, Tucker; brother, Vernon; brother in infancy, “little” Tom.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 30th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
The O’Brien family wish to thank the many health care workers who were involved in Peggy’s care. Their kindness and compassion went “above and beyond” and will never be forgotten. Many thanks to Dr. Spencer Barclay, for his many years of dedicated care.

“And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.” Psalm 37:10-11 (NWT)
