Obituary of Albert Lewis MacDonald

PINE TREE - A. Lewis MacDonald, 71, Pine Tree, passed away peacefully Friday, April 26, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of Mary “Agnes” (Bowie) MacDonald, Antigonish and the late John James “Johnnie Lewis” MacDonald. Lewis was a trucker for many years and retired from G.A. Fraser Maintenance. He loved nature in many forms, his garden, flowers, hunting, fishing and watching children grow and mature. Surviving besides his mother, Agnes, are his wife of 51 years, Catherine (DeMont); son, Albert (Gloria) MacPherson’s Mills; daughters, Margie (Steve) Crouse, Dartmouth; Louise MacDonald, Calgary, Alta.; grandchildren, Christopher, Catherine, Courtney Chapman; and Jarrett MacDonald; brothers, Bill (Suzanne), Surrey, B.C.; Francis, Port Moody, B.C.; Doug (Donna), Antigonish; sisters, Mary Simpson (Roy), Murrieta, Calif.; Marg (Ian) Rhyno, MacLellan’s Brook; brothers-in-law, Harold (Bev)and Doug Demont and sisters-in-law, Anna and Mary; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his father, Johnnie Lewis, he was predeceased by his brother, Roderick and sisters-in-law, June and Nora MacDonald and brother-in-law, Ian MacDonald. The family will receive visitors from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. with Father Colin MacKinnon presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lismore. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Lewis’ memory to the Karen Lynn MacDonald Allergy Awareness Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
