Obituary of Kenneth Francis DeYoung

Kenneth Francis “Kenny” DeYoung,78, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Wednesday June 30, 2010 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Peter and Helen (Mannette) DeYoung. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton. Kenny was employed with the Town of New Glasgow for many years until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his friends and family. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Raelena “Rae” (Gwinn); daughters, Helen (Levi) Boudreau, New Glasgow; Sadie (Peter) Boyles, Hillside; sons, Kenneth (Lori),Trenton; Jeff (Sandra), New Glasgow; sisters, Joyce (Donald) McKay, Big Island; Lena Dickinson, New Glasgow; brother, Charlie (Lorraine), Scotsburn; grandchildren, Travis Boudreau, Morgan Boyles, Christopher DeYoung and Megan DeYoung; special granddaughter, Brandy Simmons; great grandchildren, Nolan, Marlie and Logan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Stella and Hilda; brothers, Danny and Clarence. The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday, July 2nd in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3rd in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. Donations may be made in Kenny’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Parkinson Society Maritime Region.
