NEW GLASGOW – Katherine Ann Borden, 42, New Glasgow, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow surrounded by her family and friends after a brief illness. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of Russell Stephen Sr. and Nancy Isabel (Joseph) Borden, New Glasgow. Ann was employed with Atlantic Superstore, New Glasgow for the past 20 years and was manager of the Joe Fresh Department, a position she held for a number of years. She enjoyed traveling and playing TV Bingo. Her favourite pastime was spending time with her nieces. A loving daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Ann will be missed by all that loved her. Surviving besides her parents, Nancy and Russell, are sisters, Amy Borden and Lydia Borden, New Glasgow; brother, Russell Jr. (Tara), New Glasgow; nieces, Kelsey Ann, Haley Danielle, Raelyn Sheila and Nyla Kathryn; best friend, Sherry Priest; many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Edward and Frances (Fraser) Joseph; paternal grandparents, Lester and Catherine (Dorrington) Borden. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan 6 in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson presiding. Interment will be in Lorne Street Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made in Ann’s memory to the United Way of Pictou County or Pictou County S.P.C.A.
