Obituary of Russell Alexander Carmichael
NEW GLASGOW - Russell Alexander Carmichael, 48, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 26, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late John Alfred and Mae Christina (Bond) Carmichael and the late Shirley Carmichael. He had been employed in various capacities until he was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease in 1999.Russell was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle.
Surviving are his wife Christine Ann (Atwater) Carmichael; daughters, Kelsey (19) and Megan (16); son, Stephen (9); sisters, Stella (John) Cheek, Chatham, Ont.; Nancy (Kevin) MacInnis, New Glasgow; Carol (Bobby) Doucette, Trenton; biological siblings, Steven, Pam, Nancy and Michael; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Lisa.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1 in Trinity United Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Jim Shaffner presiding. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Russell’s memory to the Huntington Society of Canada.
