Obituary of Helen Aleen Forbes
Helen Aleen Forbes, 92, of New Glasgow, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, in Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in Pictou, she was the eldest daughter of the late Freeman P. and Arolina C. (Smith) Enman. From being their loving daughter to a wife to a mother, niece, aunt, cousin and grandmother, she was devoted to immediate, extended and “extra” family. She was always there to support her family through their dreams and goals and mistakes. She loved to create through many medium and sought out and restored toys and dolls through the year to donate as gifts every Christmas. She loved animals and tended many strays that turned up at her door. She enjoyed being out and about, too rarely as far as New York, sometimes just to see the local leaves, and often to find a good 40 mile yard sale.
She will be terribly missed by her sons, Lloyd (Nancy), Telford; Scott (Ann), New Glasgow; Bill, Upper Kennetcook; grandson, Devin, Edmonton; and all those who have enjoyed having her in their lives. She was very grateful to everyone who helped and supported her during illness.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Lloyd Forbes; sister, Katherine Carlos. A private graveside service will be held 11a.m. Monday, January 12 in Kenzieville Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Pictou County Food Bank, 410 Granville St, New Glasgow, NS B2H4Z2 or the Pictou County SPCA.
