Obituary of Elizabeth Anne Marshall
COALBURN – Elizabeth Anne “Betty” Marshall, 71, Coalburn, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late James Angus Burton and Mary Gertrude (Carroll) Foote. Betty worked alongside her late husband, Bill, in Marshalls Furniture Refinishing and Upholstering, as a seamstress and upholster. She was a member of Sutherlands River Presbyterian Church. Betty enjoyed spending time in the outdoors gardening and being one with nature. She shared a passion for caring for stray animals, spending time at the cottage and taking long beach walks with her dogs, and her daughter, Anne. Betty assisted her daughter, Anne in operating Miss Anne’s Preschool, baking cookies and showering the children with kindness. She was a lady who loved unconditionally and embraced each day with enthusiasm.
Surviving are her daughter, Anne, Coalburn; son, William “Billy” (Linda), Simpsonville, S.C.; grandsons, Sandy and Jeremy (Jessica); sisters, Ethel (Aubrey) Dee, Pine Tree; Edith Murphy (André Marchand), Thorburn; Grace Hatfield, Westville; brother, Lloyd (Violet) Hughes, New Glasgow; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, June (Keith) Beausejour, Alma; brothers-in-law, Douglas (Cline) Marshall, Ian Marshall, White Hill.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Bill Marshall; sisters, Rita Hughes and Ethel Hughes; brothers, James “Jim” Foote, Roy Hughes and George Hughes; sisters-in-law, Jean Langille and Jill Marshall; brother-in-law, Charlie Langille.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday March 18th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday March 19th in Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery, Middle River.
