STELLARTON – Frederick Francis “Fred” Weeks, 80, Stellarton, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late William Henry and Florence Isabel (MacKay) Weeks. In his late teens, Fred served with the Royal Canadian Regiment for several years. Prior to retirement, he was an educator at John Martin Junior High School, Dartmouth. Fred was a member of Royal Canadian Air Force Association, 110 Northumberland Wing, Stellarton and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 28, Stellarton. He enjoyed playing crib, fishing, golf and creating from metal and wood. Surviving are his partner, Darlyn “Dar” MacLean, Westville; daughters, Darlene (Ronald) Lajeunesse, O’Leary, P.E.I.; Catherine (Grayden) Porter, Dartmouth; sons, Leslie (Brenda) Weeks, Oromocto, N.B.; Donald Weeks, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; Steven Weeks, Dartmouth; daughter-in-law, Bernadette Weeks, New Glasgow; grandchildren, David, Julie, Anthony, Stefanie, Daniel, Jonathan, Francis, Jason and Charlie; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen (Robert) Cummings, Stellarton; Eileen Robinson, Truro; brother, Bill (Dee) Weeks, Thorburn; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Weeks; son, David Weeks. The family will receive visitors 1-3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Private interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens with Rev. Darlene Jewers officiating.
