Obituary of Kenneth Bruce Tugwell

NEW GLASGOW – Kenneth Bruce Tugwell, 74, New Glasgow, passed away, Friday, September 11, 2009 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax, surrounded by his family. Born in Toronto, Ont., he was a son of the late Edward Charles and Emma Alice (Byast) Tugwell. He began his career in the electronics field with Phillips of Canada, Toronto. In 1964, he moved to New Glasgow to work as a supervisor with the former Clairtone Sound, Stellarton. Upon the closure of Clairtone, he and his business partners continued to service Clairtone and other electronic products through the former Maritime Electronics Limited. Kenneth enjoyed wood working, traveling, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Agnes Yorke; daughter, Lynne (Joe) DiPersio, Alma; sons, Ross (Karen) Tugwell, Linacy; Keith (Teresa) Tugwell, Plymouth; Roger Yorke, Tatamagouche; Wayne (Irma) Yorke, Truro; Kevin (Krista) Yorke, Hantsport; Barry (Pat) Yorke, Barrhead, Alta.; sister, Nellie Leach, Toronto; brother, Bill (Margaret) Tugwell, Exeter, Ont.; brother-in-law, Alex (Linda) Niven, Westville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Mark Brian Tugwell; sisters, Lorraine, Alice, Glady; brothers, Harold, Richard and Charlie. The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, September 15th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 16th with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
